Care from people who know this city
Indianapolis is not one place. Care in a 1920s Irvington bungalow with a steep staircase is a different job from care in a ranch out toward Wanamaker, and both are different again from a second floor apartment near Castleton. When we plan a schedule we are thinking about the house, the street, the drive, and the hours that actually matter to the family. That is the advantage of an agency with an office on East Washington Street rather than a dispatcher three states away.
Everything we do in the home is non-medical. Our caregivers help with bathing, dressing, meals, mobility, housekeeping, errands and company. They give medication reminders and cues. They do not administer medication, do wound care, or perform any nursing or therapy task. If your parent needs that kind of care, we will say so plainly and work alongside the licensed provider who handles it.
Home care services we provide across Indianapolis
Most Indianapolis families start with one of these and adjust as things change.
Personal Care
Hands-on help with bathing, dressing and mobility, including the narrow bathrooms and tight staircases that come with older east side homes.
Companion Care
Conversation, cards, a walk around the block in Irvington or Fountain Square, and someone in the house on the long quiet afternoons.
Respite Care
Scheduled hours off for the spouse or adult child doing all of it, whether that is one morning a week or a full weekend.
Transportation and Errands
Rides to appointments downtown or on the east side, plus groceries, the pharmacy and the bank, without a trip across I-465 alone.
Post-Hospital Care
Support through the first weeks after a discharge, following the plan your clinicians set and getting you to every follow-up.
24-Hour Home Care
Overnight and around the clock coverage for Indianapolis clients who are no longer safe alone but want to stay in their own home.

A lot of our Indianapolis clients live in the houses they bought forty or fifty years ago. That is the whole point of aging in place, and it also brings real obstacles. Bathrooms built before grab bars existed. Basement laundry down open wooden steps. A driveway that turns to glass the first week of January. We look at all of that on the first visit and tell you what we see, including the cheap fixes. Sometimes a shower chair and a second handrail change more than extra hours would, and we can supply equipment through our durable medical equipment arm if you need it.
The other Indianapolis fact is distance. Families are spread out. A daughter in Fishers, a son in Avon, a mother alone in Devington. Traffic on I-465 and I-70 means a twenty minute drive is rarely twenty minutes at five o’clock. Appointments cluster around a handful of hospital campuses, so a Tuesday follow-up can eat an entire afternoon. Our caregivers handle those trips, and we keep families updated after each visit so the person who lives furthest away still knows how Mom’s week actually went.
Why Indianapolis families choose Cater2U
An office you can drive to
6433 E Washington St, Suite 132, Indianapolis, IN 46219. You can come in, sit down and talk to a person about your parent rather than filling in a web form and waiting.
BBB accredited and non-medical by design
We are accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and we are direct about our limits. Caregivers cue and remind. Clinical care belongs to clinicians.
More than one kind of support
Alongside home care we run an Adult Day Center, a Residential Stay program and a durable medical equipment supply. As needs change, you are not starting over.
Schedules built around real hours
Mornings, sundowning hours, overnights, weekends. We would rather cover the hours that are genuinely hard than sell you a block that looks tidy on paper.
Local questions
In many cases within a day or two of the first conversation, and sometimes the same day when there is an urgent discharge or a caregiver has suddenly fallen through. It depends on the hours you need and where in Marion County you are. Call 463-277-4092 and we will tell you honestly what we can cover and when.
We cover most of Marion County, including Irvington, Warren Township, Lawrence, Beech Grove, Southport, Speedway, Broad Ripple, Castleton, Fountain Square, Wanamaker, Cumberland and Devington. Coverage is strongest on the east and south sides near our Washington Street office. If you are on the edge of our range, ask and we will be straight with you.
Tell us at intake. Gated lots, fob entry, guest parking limits, elevator quirks and after-hours front desk rules all get written into the care notes so a caregiver is never stuck outside your mother’s building at seven in the morning. If a building requires a background check or badge for staff, we will complete it.
We plan for it. Indianapolis gets ice storms and the occasional heavy snow, and those are the days a client alone at home is most at risk. We build backup coverage from caregivers who live nearby, adjust arrival times rather than cancelling where we safely can, and call you early if a visit has to move. Safety of both people comes first.
Yes. Post-hospital support is one of our most requested services, wherever the discharge came from. We work from the written discharge instructions, provide reminders and cues rather than medical care, and drive to follow-up appointments. If a home health nurse or therapist is also involved, our caregiver works around their visits.
We would rather talk about your situation than quote a rule. Some Indianapolis clients use a few hours twice a week, others need daily visits or overnight coverage. We will explain what is practical for your address and your schedule, and what payment options exist, when we speak. Call 463-277-4092 to go through it.
