Non-Medical Home Care

Light Housekeeping for Seniors in Indianapolis

A clean, uncluttered home is easier to move through and easier to enjoy. Our caregivers keep up with the everyday work so your parent is not wrestling with laundry baskets and a sink full of dishes.

A tidy, bright living room

Everyday upkeep, handled with care

Most homes do not go downhill all at once. It starts with a basket of laundry that never gets folded. Then a sink that stays full. Then a hallway with a stack of mail on the floor and a box nobody has moved since Christmas. For an older adult with sore knees or unsteady balance, each of those is one more thing to step around. Families in Indianapolis often tell us the house was the first real sign something had changed.

Light housekeeping is exactly what the name says. We tidy, wash, fold, wipe down and put away. We are not a deep cleaning crew. We do not climb ladders, move furniture or scrub out a basement. What we do is keep the rooms your mom or dad actually lives in clean, clear and safe, week after week, so the house stops working against them. It is one piece of a larger plan that helps people keep aging in place on their own terms.

Who this service is right for

Light housekeeping helps when the house has quietly become more than one person can manage.

Why families across Marion County choose Cater2U

The same caregiver, most visits
We work hard to hold your schedule with a consistent caregiver. Nobody should have to explain where the towels go every single week.

Housekeeping is rarely the only need
While we tidy, we notice. Low groceries, a walker parked in the hallway, a change in mood. We tell you what we see, the same week we see it.

Two local offices
Our teams work out of East Washington Street in Indianapolis and Smith Valley Road in Greenwood, so help is not driving in from three counties away.

Questions families ask about this

No. A cleaning company arrives, does a deep clean and leaves. We are a home care agency, and housekeeping is one part of a caregiver visit. Our caregivers keep the daily mess under control while also being there for your parent as a person, not just for the floors. Most families combine housekeeping with companionship, meals or personal care in the same visit.

We skip anything heavy or hazardous. No ladders, no moving furniture, no exterior windows, no garages or crawl spaces, no carpet shampooing. We do not handle pet waste beyond tidying a litter box. If a home genuinely needs a deep clean first, we will say so and you can bring in a cleaning company before our visits start.

Most housekeeping visits run two to four hours, once or twice a week. A shorter visit works when the list is small and a caregiver is already coming for meals or company. Longer or more frequent visits make sense after a hospital stay, or when a home has gotten away from someone. We build the schedule around what the house actually needs.

In most homes we use what is already there. That keeps familiar scents in the house and avoids a reaction to something new. If you would rather we pick up specific supplies on an errand run, we can do that. Tell us about any allergies or sensitivities up front and we will keep those products out of the house.

That is the most common call we get. It usually goes better when the first visit is framed around something else, like a ride to the store or company over coffee, and the tidying happens alongside it. We also start small. One visit a week, one caregiver, no takeover of his house. Most people soften once they have met the person.

We do. We cover Marion County and Johnson County, including Indianapolis, Greenwood, Beech Grove, Lawrence, Speedway, Southport, Franklin, Whiteland and Bargersville, along with Plainfield, Avon, Fishers and Carmel. Call 463-277-4092 with your address and we will confirm coverage before you go any further.
